“YSU is open to cooperate in running a scholarship program with Bintan Resort Cakrawala as YSU offers plenty of opportunities for students to enroll at one of our departments,” said Dr. Margana, M.Hum., M.A. as the Expert Staff of Vice Rector of Academic Affairs welcomed PT. Bintan Resort Cakrawala representatives in Senate Room 2, Wednesday (04/02/2015).

As the representative of the resort, Machsun Asfari visited YSU to discuss about this opportunity. “We will send four students to study at the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program every year after both parties have reached agreement on the details. Later on, there will be sixteen students from Bintan for four years,” he said.

“We plan to build Junior and Senior High School. Prior to that, we have already built a Kindergarten and Elementary School,” Machsun said. “According to the plan, we will select only four students from 90 applicants who usually enroll for our full-scholarship,” he added.

“We will proceed with an MoU between YSU and Bintan through Office of International Affairs and Partnership. Later on, the selection process will be held there (Bintan: red),” Dr. Margana, M.Hum.,M.A. said.

The scholarship is a part of Corporate Social Responsibility of this company which covers three fields, namely education, economy and social services. Prior to this period, the company has sent one student to study at the Faculty of Engineering of YSU.

“It is hoped that we can make this cooperation to the next level which is not only in running the scholarship program, but also in developing teacher competence and the region’s development,” Dr. Margana, M.Hum.,M.A. closed. (OIAP)
