(Wednesday, July 8th 2015) Representatives of Education Regional Office of South Sumatera Province met YSU Head of Academic, Student, and Information Affairs Bureau to discuss further academic collaboration program. The collaboration in the 2016/2017 Academic Year will be on the scholarships for selected students from South Sumatera to pursue their education at YSU undergraduate programs. The Head of Regional Vocational High School Development Division, Dra. Erlina, M.M. talked to Sukirjo, M.Pd. about the changing scheme for the collaboration.
YSU and South Sumatera Government has been conducting the collaboration program since 2011 and up to 2014, the province goverment has sent a number of students to study at YSU Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Economics.
The government of South Sumatera has planned for more students to enroll at the university programs and Yogyakarta State University is one of the partnering universities for the same collaboration. In the 2016/2017 Academic year, there will be scholarships provided for prospective students to enroll at one of 53 departments listed for the program.
“The government of South Sumatera will launch the scholarship program on August 22, 2015. The scholarship is for the high achieving students but cannot afford the tuition fee and living cost for studying at higher education,” said Erlina.
Sukirjo, M.Pd. also added that prior to the academic program, the students and parents will have an opportunity to share understanding and ideas about the scholarship program and the general view of continuing study at higher education.
At the end of the meeting, the participating representatives of South Sumatera scholarship recipients also had the chance to ask the officials about detailed information and new regulation for students of the collaboration program.
