Darmasiswa Students of YSU Visit Three Schools in Yogyakarta

In the end of this year Darmasiswa Program period, the Darmasiswa students of YSU visited three schools from Monday to Thursday (1-4/6/2015). They are Diponegoro Vocational High School, Percobaan 2 Elementary School and Yaketunis, an Islamic Junior Highschool for the blind.
Diponegoro Vocational Highschool was visited by the Darmasiswa students on Monday (1/6/2015). In this school, they told brief descriptions of the Darmasiswa students’ countries. “We tell them general geographical and cultural descriptions about our countries,” said Aron, the Darmasiswa student from Hungary in good Bahasa Indonesia.
The Darmasiswa students visited Percobaan 2 Elementary School on Wednesday (3/6/2015). Here, they taught the traditional dances and songs of each country.
On the last day, Thursday (4/6/2015), they visited Yaketunis, an Islamic Junior Highschool for the blind. They were welcomed by several performances of Yaketunis students. In their performance, the Darmasiswa students performed two songs by Angklung, the traditional music instruments from West Java. The visit was ended by the interaction among them. “I practiced to speak English with Judith from Hungary,” said Sigit, one of Yaketunis students.
The visit is a sweet closing for this year Darmasiswa Program. “It is hoped that this visit gives experience and memory for them,” closed Alfa, the program administrator. (Yuhda)
