GARUDA YSU RETAINS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN KOREA

The fierce competition that lasted for two days (19-20/05) resulted in an incredible outcome for Garuda YSU Team (GUT). The team led by Teguh Arifin succeeded achieving two awards: Best of the Best Hybrid Car Category and Best Teamwork in International Student Car Competition 2017 (ISCC).

Competing against 17 teams, Garuda YSU managed to come out as winner with total points of 995.5. The team obtained 300 points in acceleration category (10.480 seconds for electric acceleration and 8.818 seconds for hybrid), 295.5 points in maneuver category (24.236 seconds for electric and 27.611 seconds for hybrid), and 400 points in endurance category (23 minutes, 47.746 seconds).

“I’m very proud of the team’s success in achieving Best of the Best and Best Teamwork. It’s all thanks to the hard work of Garuda YSU Team and also the supports and prayer coming from all YSU academicians,” said Suratijo, GUT head of delegation team for ISCC 2017 at the team’s reception taking place at the official residence of YSU Rector (21/05).

YSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Sutrisna Wibawa congratulated this victory and expressed gratitude towards the struggle endured in the name of YSU internationally. “I think this is the perfect gift for YSU because coincidentally, today marks the 53rd anniversary of YSU,” he closed.

ISCC is an international car competition held by Korea Automobile Testing and Research Institute (KATRI). This competition is held at Proving Ground 200 Samjon-ro, Songsan-myeon, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Garuda YSU has participated three times in International Student Car Competition (ISCC) in South Korea. Last year, the team also managed to retain Best of the Best title. (tim)
