IMPROVING COLLABORATION BETWEEN UNIVERSITY AND SCHOOL THROUGH LECTURER ASSIGNMENT TO SCHOOL PROGRAM

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta held “Lecturer Assignment to School Program” (Penugasan Dosen di Sekolah/PDS) to strengthen and increasing collaboration between university and school. There are two schemes in PDS activities, the first in the form of PDS activities in partner schools and the second in the form of follow-up PDS results into lectures on campus. This program is a continuation of the same program as well as a mandate from the Directorate of Learning, Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs UNY, Margana said that PDS activities hopefully will provide as much benefits to both parties. "We hope that the PDS in 2019 can provide the broadest benefits for the institution and also our lecturers to improve the quality of learning, research, and community service", Margana explained on PDS socialization. The socialization was attended by 8 UNY partner school principals and 28 UNY lecturers participating in PDS program.

Partner schools participate for PDS Program are SMAN 1 Prambanan, SMAN 4 Yogyakarta, SMK 1 Sedayu, SMK Muh. 1 Salam, SMAN 1 Mlati, SMAN 1 Pakem, SMAN 1 Jetis, SLB B Karnamanohara. UNY lecturers who will participate in PDS program must be teaching in in undergraduate education programs and undergraduate education programs in both Pedagogic and expertise studies.

This one semester program will provide real experience for UNY Lecturers in understanding the character of students, developing teaching skills, strengthening partnership, and improving teacher education programs in the context of revitalizing teacher higher education institutions.(rewi)
