Yogyakarta State University hosts an international teaching practice program in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia involving 9 students of UTM from the English Education Department, Civil Engineering Department, and Mechanical Engineering Department. Those students will be joining a month teaching practice program at one of YSU lab schools, that is Depok 2 Vocational High School, Yogyakarta.

Prof. Suwarsih Madya, Ph.D., the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Partnership Affairs of Yogyakarta State University officially opened this program and gave her welcoming speech.
“We are glad to hear that this program has received positive responses from both universities and school teachers. We hope that through this program, the students will be able to learn the language, culture, and most important one, teaching in Indonesian education context,”she said.
“The results of the previous teaching practice program were regarded as satisfactory so that the university has decided to continue this program for years to come,”said Prof. Dr. Zaenudin Bin Abu Bakar from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Prof. Suwarsih Madya, Ph.D. further expressed that the two different cultures of Indonesia and Malaysia would certainly influence the education system and classroom teaching and learning processes inspite of the similarities which exist in Indonesian and Malaysian socities. “This is a great opportunity to learn from each other,” she added.
A workshop on teaching practice in UTM and research collaboration by Prof. Dr. Zaenudin Bin Abu Bakar followed this program. Several YSU lectures also participated in the discussion session of this workshop.
