MARKISA : DIGITAL LEARNING MEDIA ON CHARACTER EDUCATION

Digital learning media on character building through the history of Indonesian hero is quite limited. Therefore, Nifta Noor Halimah (Educational Technology), Adhien Wandani (Non-Formal Education), and Erlina Oktaviandani (Elementary-school Teacher Education) of the Faculty of Education UNY  are interested in developing  flash-based interactive learning media in an effort to introduce Indonesian heroes and their positive character for students at fourth grade of elementary school.

"MARKISA is a learning media designed for Civics Education learning especially for sub theme of Indonesian Heroes introduction and their positive character values, “said Nifta Noor Halimah. This interactive media offers several features such as material about Indonesian national heroes’ biography and their respective effort in Indonesia independence.  Through the material, students will also learn about character values from each heroes. To test student understanding, there are several question need to be answered and then scored.

Adhien Wandani added that this media was designed to be used independently by students. MARKISA Learning Media is expected to be implemented at elementary school as a means to develop positive character values for students.

Erlina Oktaviandani explained that student need to press the start button first. “We give outer space touch to attract fourth grade student,” Erlina said. At the start screen, student will get explanation about the learning media. There are standard competencies and basic competencies that must be achieved by studying this material. Students can choose the button material to learn about national hero figures. Once the material is completed, student must take the 10 evaluation question as part of competencies assessment. This innovation has won the funding from the UNY Faculty of Education. (Dedy; Tj.Lak)
