MoU Drafting between Yogyakarta State University and University of Auckland

Monday March 3rd 2014, the reperesentatives of YSU welcomed the Associate Dean International Programs of University of Auckland Dr. John Hope. In this meeting,  the draft of the MoU between the wo universities was discussed. The planned programs discussed were under the umbrella of Joint International Programs. Moving towards the realization of the plans, John said that University of Auckland would focus on programs which interest the students in terms of culture and Islam as the student exchange program is not allowed for teacher education students. He added,” For the double degree program, the students certainly have to stay and study longer in New Zealand, whereas for the sandwich program for master degrees, the university issuing the cetificate is the one in which the students study the most of the subjects.”

The Vice Rector for Cooperation Affairs and Partnerships stated, “As this is a cooperation, it should be in a reciprocal way. Not only YSU students come to New Zealand but also New Zealand students come to Indonesia.”

In addition, many lecturers in YSU would like to continue their study in doctoral degrees and are trying to find supervisor for their dissertations. If the lecturers have met the requirements for the program, the University of Auckland will open opportunities for lecturers to pursue their doctoral degrees.
