Urfan, or Muhammad Urfan Taufik's , won the 1st Public Speaking Competition in the 10th National University Debating Championship (NUDC) competition. The 10th NUDC is held at PGRI University of Semarang on 3-8 September 2017. NUDC is a debate competition held annually by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. This competition was attended by more than 110 Universities throughout Indonesia, which is the best team of representatives from 14 Kopertis in Indonesia.
Urfan is one of the representatives of the UNY team who was successfully qualified in the NUDC Kopertis V competition. NUDC Kopertis V was held on 22-24 May 2017 at Hotel Giya Persada, Kaliurang, Yogyakarta. In the NUDC Kopertis V competition, the UNY team managed to get the 2nd rank, thus representing Kopertis V in the 10th NUDC competition at PGRI University of Semarang.
In the NUDC's primary round, the UNY team only managed to rank 35th, so they cannot proceed to the final round. However, teams that did not make it to the final okay are eligible for the Public speaking and Essay Writing contests.
Urfan then followed the public speaking contest and successfully qualified in the primary round. After passing the primary round stage, Urfan advanced to the final round and managed to get the first winner of public speaking category.
Urfan is currently listed as a student of Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Faculty of Languages and Arts class of 2014. Urfan is active in English debating Society (EDS), UKM SAFEL UNY since 2014, and now serves as EDS chairman. Urfa also has a bustle activity as an Indonesian tutor at one of the course institutions in Jogja. (FBS PR Team)
