An alumnus of English Language Education Study Program at Yogyakarta State University, Rasman, has secured a master scholarship from LPDP program (Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education). Contributing to his success on the selection process were his active involvement in various organizational and leadership activities, namely English Debating Society (EDS) of YSU and research.
He passed stages of the selection before gaining the scholarship, i.e. administration selection, interview, and Pre-Departure Preparation. Taking Affirmative Program, he chose to take master of Teaching English as Foreign Languages (TEFL) in University of Birmingham, UK.
Rasman told that he prepared very well for this scholarship. He shared his experience in choosing the universities as well as providing a detailed plan to complete the application. “Try to make a detailed plan about scholarship application, master application, English proficiency certificate and your target,” he said.
According to him, each selection process is cruciall. After completing all application forms, he prepared very well for the interview. “You need to show your integrity and confidence. In addition, answer all questions in detailed, clear and simple answers. List all potential questions and do not forget to pray before the interview,” he shared his experience.
Year by year, the number of LPDP scholarship applicants is increasing. Therefore, they need to prepare harder due to the fact that LPDP only chooses the best candidates which are suitable to its vision and mission. “Make sure that you know these following things: your objectives of your master study, your future plan after completing your master study, your contribution to Indonesia after completing your master study, and the reason you choose the university,” he suggested.
Rasman admitted that gaining this scholarship is not an easy task. However, he was supported by his family so that he was able to pass the scholarship selection. (Zidnie Ilma)
