Maslikah Setiana, a student of the Make Up and Beauty Therapist Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University, achieved the first runner-up position in the national selection of ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) in Jakarta held in September 9th-11th 2013. Together with the first winner and the second runner up in the beauty therapy category, she will join an eight-month training in Jakarta. Later, one of them will be chosen to represent Indonesia in the ASC X in Vietnam next year.

Elok Novita, the lecturer in charge, told that the committee set a very high standard for the competition. “This competition is based on the international standard system and qualifications so that the items and criteria are highly complex,” she said.

“The items include pedicure, electric facial, hot stone body massage, nail art, fantasy make up art, and an interview as a form of psychological test. We are so grateful that Maslikah could finish all of the items pretty well, on time, and smoothly,” she added.

Elok added that the schedule for the eight-month training had not been released yet. However, all of the coaching lecturers will do their best to develop Maslikah’s potentials before the training begins. “I hope she can show her improvement during the training and be chosen to represent Indonesia in this ASEAN-level competition,” she said.
