UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN INTENTION TO CO-WORK WITH YSU

The existence of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) as a World Class University is evidenced by its attempt to host more visitation from foreign universities and partners which are in the intention to co-work with YSU. On Friday (11/12/2015), UNY greeted representatives of University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), the United States. Attending the visitation were Prof. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd, M.A. as Rector of YSU and Prof. Suwarsih Madya as Vice Rector for Cooperation and Development, and representatives of UNL, namely Prof. Harvey Perlman, Prof. Dr. Helen Raikes, Prof. Archie Clutter, and Thomas Farrel.

Prof. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd, M.A began the discussion by delivering brief presentation regarding the YSU profile.   UNL stated their intention to collaborate with YSU in the years to come, and yet asked for consideration and agreement from YSU before together mapping the potential area of collaboration. YSU proposed several suitable programs “Based on our visitation to UNL, I suggest to cooperate in the area of culinary,” says Prof. Suwarsih Madya, and then was warmly accepted by UNL. In addition to culinary, Prof. Suwarsih Madya also proposed cooperation in terms of fashion.

Prof. Harvey Perlman of UNL also explicated his wish to collaborate with YSU in the field of educational psychology especially designed for kids in their early childhood. In responding to the suggestion, Prof. Rochmat Wahab ascertained “I totally agree with that, as Psychology has been vital aspect”.

He also streesed out that in the future, YSU is in the attempt to develop hospitality and tourism department. With the assistance and collaboration with UNL, YSU could expect the department could be established soon. (Wulan)
