Research activities and Community Service of UNY lecturers and students using internal funds and external funds such as from DP2M, RISTEK, PEMDA, LIPI, and others have increased from year to year. The success of a research program in an institution can be seen from the number of research outputs, both in the form of articles published nationally and internationally, the number of intellectual property rights, appropriate technology applied to the community, and textbooks.

To improve the understanding and ability of lecturers and students in applying for IPR,  it is necessary to hold a workshop on IPR socialization for UNY lecturers and students who have completed their research or community service activities so that the number of IPRs increases. Therefore, the workshop was held on November 19, 2021, attended by UNY lecturers and students.

The workshop was opened by the Coordinator of TU LPPM UNY, Martutik, SIP, and moderated by Prof. Eli Rohaeti as the Head of the HKI team at LPPM UNY. In his remarks, the LPPM TU Coordinator expressed his hope that with this workshop, lecturers and students can easily and quickly make and register IPRs, and increase the number of IPRs at UNY.

On this occasion, the Head of the HKI team said that in 2020 the number of IPR proposals was 444 titles, and the number of registered patents was only six titles and not evenly distributed in each study program. The number of HKIs is one of the indicators of Higher Education Performance and Study Program Performance in the accreditation of study programs and institutions. The ability to compile and register copyrights is sometimes one of the obstacles faced by lecturers and students. They are not interested in registering IPR from their innovative works. Therefore, there needs to be a copyright registration activity for UNY lecturers and students carried out by the HKI Team through the DJKI information system. (Heri-Humas LPPM, Tj.Lak)
