YSU and Eszterhazy Karoly University, Hungary Sign a Letter of Intent

Friday, March 27th 2015. Representatives of Yogyakarta State University and Eszterhazy Karoly University, Hungary signed a Letter of Intent for Academic Collaboration between the two institutions. Held at the YSU-University Coordination Meeting Room, the signing ceremony was followed by a discussion session on the possible collaboration programs to conduct.
Prof. Suwarsih Madya, Ph.D., the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Partnership Affairs said that this was the quickest process for a letter of intent. “This is an opportunity to cater cooperation especially research and joint supervision of doctoral students. Doctoral programs should explore the realistic activities in the new collaboration programs. YSU vision in 2025 is to gain international recognition of quality. This is an impossible task to do it without the support of our partners,” she said.
Dr.habil. Kalman Liptai, the Rector of Eszterhazy Karoly University, expressed his appreciation to YSU response to conduct collaboration with Eszterhazy Karoly University. “This world is full of problems, in the 21st century, so how we change the world? The answer is education. Europe, Asian countries all have to work together. Although this is only a signature, this would change the future,” he said.
Eszterhazy Karoly College is one of the oldest facilities in Hungary Serving higher educational purposes as it was established in the second half of the 18th century. The university has similar process to Yogyakarta State University. Both universities used to be teacher education colleges and transformed into universities.
Representatives of YSU are suggested to visit Eszterhazy Karoly University to meet professors and discuss possible academic collaborations. The programs planned for the near future will include guest lecturing programs in YSU and a visit to Eszterhazy Karoly University in its international event in the third week of April.
Dr. habil. Judit Agnes Kadar, the Director of the Center for International Relations, said that Eszterhazy Karoly University would share information on upcoming project and any kind of program as well as scholarships available for the collaboration between the two universities. (Yuliana)
