YSU BONDOWOSO TEAM WON THE SECOND PRIZE OF INDONESIAN ENERGY MARATHON CHALLENGE (2014)

The Research and Technology Student Activity Unit has once again proven their ability in the Indonesian Energy Marathon Challenge, (IEMC 2014). This competition was organised by the Directorate of Higher Education of Indonesia, and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) Surabaya, East Java as the organising committee. From October 16-20, the competition also took places on other venues, for example, Kenjeran Park Circuit, where YSU team gained the second position in urban gasoline category.

The team consists of Rahmad Novi wibawa, Akbar Yudhantoko, Chahyo Handoko, Okky Ferdyanto, Yunis Ariyadi, Yahya Ahmad Satria, Bayuaji Alim Pambudi, Fuad Hardhiyansyah, Chamdan Nor Ihwan, Nur Hidayah Fitria, Merya Wulansari, Muh Aji Amin Atmaja, Sony Muta'ajid, and Denny Asprila.

During the preparation for the competition, YSU team had to work on 90 % of the production of the car in three months. “Bondowoso car uses Honda c100 machine with 85cc capacity after modification. The frame is made of hollow aluminium and for the body we use aluminium sheet ,” explained Rahmad, the team leader. Before the race, the car had undergone a scrutineering check.

The scrutineering check consisted of static scrutineering including weighing, dimension, braking, lighting and equipment of the car and dynamic scrutineering including slalom, dynamic brake and panic button tests.

“We believe that under such limitations, we can compete with teams of other universities in developing fuel-efficient car and get satisfactory results,” Rahmad said. (Yuliana)
