Friday (9 October 2015) - YSU welcomed Prof. Andrew Abbot from University of Hull with open arms in Senate Meeting Room, YSU Rectorate Building. Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP) YSU, in cooperation with Noble Solution, facilitated the agenda. “We are opening the possibility for international cooperation with YSU and willing to conduct joint-reseach, student exchange, and double degree programs, “Prof. Andrew Abbot stated to the Dean of Faculty of Economics, Head, and Coordinator of Unit of International Affairs and Partnerships (UIOAP) of Faculty of Economics YSU.

The agenda began with brief description about YSU by Dr. -Ing. Satoto E. Nayono, M.Eng., M.Sc.. Prof. Andrew Abbot warmly responded it by arguing that University of Hull also shares some similarities with YSU since it has well-established faculty of education. As the 14th oldest university in United Kingdom, University of Hull also opens courses in Hong Kong, Oman, Bahrain, and Singapore. The university is experienced in running doctoral programs designed specifically for academic staff in Meksiko and Tanzania.

Coordinator of UIOAP, Denies Priantinah, SE., M.Si. Ak., CA. addressed a question whether it is possible to arrange a sandwich program between YSU and University of Hull. "We can start with joint supervision and post graduate training program linked with Ph.D," Prof. Andrew Abbot pointed out.

In this occasion, the University of Hull also informed that the university has been affiliated with Utrecht University network. Prof. Andrew Abbott ascertained that the collaboration between Hull, Utrecht, and YSU would be fruitful. Practically, the MoU between YSU and Hull is proper as a foundation of joint-activities, such as student exchange. Nonetheless, for the double degree program, Prof. Andrew Abbot suggested that a more specific and detailed agreement is necessary. (laksa)
