Anang Prasetyo, the student of Electronics Engineering Study Program of YSU the Faculty of Engineering won the first and favorite innovation for the general category in GS Astra Power Of Innovation Award 2014 for his innovation, namely the automatic vegetable farm watering.

Going to big five of the competition, he was awarded ten millions rupiah to create his innovation prototype. In addition, he was also awarded fifty millions rupiah for the first prize and ten millions rupiah for the favorite innovation for the general category.

Later on, his innovation will be initially used by Sedyo Rukun Agricultural Group in Karangrejek, Wonosari, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta

By using this technology, the farmers will be able to water their wide farming areas using the automatic device so that they can save their energy. “In Karangrejek, the farmers still water their wide vegetable farms using manual devices. It takes much time to water and results in decreasing harvest,” Anang said, Tuesday (6/1/2015).

This automatic spayer consists of elements such as water pump, solar inverter, solar cells, micro controller and LCD. This innovation is set up to water the farming areas in two sessions, namely from 8 a.m to 10 a.m. and 3p.m to 5 p.m.

“SHT11 Module serves as sensor module and if it detects the dry farming area, water will spray during the sessions. Conversely, water will stop spraying if it detects wet areas,” Anang explained. (tribunJogja)
