Three students of Faculty of Economics of YSU, Bayu Tangguh Pamungkas (Accounting Study Program), Rizki Amalia (Marketing Diploma Program) and Eko Siam Muwardi (Economics Education Study Program) secures remarkable achievement on national debate competition. It was held by Student Activity Unit of Student Cooperative of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (03/10/15) participated by eight teams from various higher institutions in Indonesia. The competition entitled Economic & Cooperation Debate Competition (EnC) consists of two steps, namely essay and debate. 

The essay selection step was participated by 39 teams from various universities in Indonesia and eliminated into 8 teams. YSU team secured first position according to essay point followed by Gadjah Mada University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Ganesha Education University, Airlangga University, Sriwijaya University, and Surabaya State University. Those are the big eight to compete in Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. 

The debate showed the intense and critical argument of each participant.  “We are nothing to lose as we headed to Surabaya because it is national competition,” Rizky said. Prior to that, the Faculty of Economics Debate Community (FEDC) has secured the first position of Provincial Debate Competition held by Student Executive Board of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta.

The YSU team secured the first position on EnC followed by Gadjah Mada University. “We hope the result would trigger the subsequent achievement of Student Executive Board of Faculty of Economics,” said Bayu.

The theme of this year EnC is “Youth Cooperative in Global Competition.” The theme is connected to the issues of Micro, Small, and Middle Medium Enterprises and Cooperative Business (UMKMK) and Economic Asean Community related to government policy. “How lucky we are the Faculty of Economics of YSU provides sufficient knowledge about UMKM,” Eko said.
