The Bimasena Team at the Division of Construction Design at YSU Student’s Unit of Engineering Technology won the third prize in the Eco House Design Competition 2015. This was a national competition held in the BNI UGM Foodpark, Yogyakarta on May 23rd 2015. The theme for this year’s event was “Fishermen Village”.
The team consisted of four students of the Department of Civil Engineering. They are Agus Setyawan, Taufiq Budi, Dzulfiqar Adam, and Enik Ernawati. The team is supervised by Retna Hidayah, Ph.D., a lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering at YSU Faculty of Engineering.
In this competition, the team created a miniature landscape model and has the concept of Green eco recovery residence of Yogyakarta. The concept is aimed at establishing eco friendly and sustainable constructions with economical functions for local fishermen. Their design includes smoked-fish production facilities in each house and the house is called Bloater House. The facilities are expected to generate additional income for the fishermen by producing smoked fish.
“We worked hard for this competition and it is a blessing that we are able to win the third prize,” Agus said. The team also plan to join the competition again next year.
