Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta is one of 9 campuses in Yogyakarta that is organizing the 2024 General Election on Wednesday (14/2) by opening 6 polling stations (TPS) spread across six locations, namely UNY Rectorate Hall, Session Room 1 GOR, FISHIPOL Deanate Building 1st Floor, FT Deanate Building 1st Floor, Cine Club Room 1st Floor Ki Ageng Suryomentram Building FBSB UNY, and Deanate Building 1st Floor FMIPA UNY.
TPS UNY is organized to facilitate especially students who come from outside the area. Voters who can vote are voters who have registered at each polling station. A total of 1692 voters who have registered as the Voters List spread across six UNY polling stations can exercise their voting rights from 07.00 WIB until 13.00 WIB.
One of the UNY polling stations, TPS 917, was observed right at 07.00 am starting the democratic party with the oath of KPPS and prayer together. In addition to KPPS officers at the polling station location, witnesses have also been prepared, TPS supervisors from Bawaslu, as well as security officers from UNY and the local police.
Head of KPPS 917 Bayu Setya Pambudi, who is also an educational staff at FISHIPOL UNY, briefed the flow of voting to voters. The flow of voting is first, voters must first ensure that their names are registered at TPS 917, then show an identity card in the form of KTP or KTM to the KPPS officer, the officer gives the form, the voter fills in the attendance list and then submits the completed form back to the officer. Voters get ballots, and before being taken to the voting booth, voters are directed to first ensure that the ballots are not damaged. After ensuring that the ballots are safe, voters can go to the voting booth to vote. Then the ballot papers are put into the ballot box. The voting process ends by dipping the finger into the election ink that has been provided as proof of having voted.
Head of the Sub-Directorate of Student Affairs and Achievement of the Directorate of Academic, Student Affairs and Alumni of UNY Yulianto Subagyo hopes that the 2024 Election activities at UNY will run smoothly. "I certainly hope that the 2024 elections at UNY will run safely and smoothly," he said. Regarding students who have not moved to vote and are still registered at the domicile polling station, he directed them to try to come to the regular polling station outside the campus. However, he also emphasized that there is no guarantee that they will be able to vote because of the limited number of ballots.
One of the voters at polling station 917, Dian Endang Lestari, a Master of Mathematics Education student from Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, who had taken care of moving to vote, felt grateful to have voted at UNY even though she could only vote for the president and vice president. "I am happy and grateful to be able to vote on campus because I believe that one vote is very meaningful for the future progress of Indonesia. Many thanks also to UNY for facilitating voting easily and comfortably." Dian said.
