Learning Chemistry Using TikTok

Social media is online media distributed by electronic devices and various other devices to help exchange information systematically. "Utilizing the existing media can streamline students' learning activities and provide knowledge about new learning media. Thus, it is expected to improve learning outcomes and that learning objectives are easier to achieve because it can maximize time and energy," said Alifah Nida Luthfiyah, Chemistry Education program student of UNY (26/7). This prompted Alifah to utilize TikTok as a medium for learning chemistry at SMA 1 Depok.

The use of moving images (animation) in describing concepts, in addition to concretizing the material, can also reinforce understanding and attract students' interest and attention throughout the learning process. Thus it is hoped that the media developed in this study will arouse new learning desires and interests and arouse motivation and learning stimuli, leading to the ranking of learning outcomes. Given that the TikTok application can be designed as a chemistry learning media.

Electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions in class X are materials that have conceptual, factual, and procedural understanding. "Students have a lot of difficulty in understanding the material because they are considered to lack understanding of the nature of electric current," he said. With the existence of chemistry learning media assisted by the TikTok application, it is hoped that it can help overcome difficulties and improve students' understanding of electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution material because the presentation of material content in the developed media is simple and not confusing, specially packaged in the form of TikTok applications that match their world. The learning media contains electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution material, which contains apperception, understanding of solutions, strong electrolyte solutions, weak electrolyte solutions, non-electrolyte solutions, degrees of ionization, electrical conductivity tests, examples of electrolyte solutions in everyday life, equipped with practice questions.

The Tiktok application, tested at SMA 1 Depok Sleman, was successful. Based on the feasibility test results by chemistry educators, it is known that the chemistry learning media assisted by the TikTok application obtained a very good category with an average score of 86 out of a maximum score of 100. This means that chemistry learning media assisted by the TikTok application can be used in learning chemistry at school.
