UNY WON NATIONAL INNOVATION CONTEST

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta once again struck its achievements in the national championship in Scientific Paper Competition by becoming the first winner of the Innovation Contest (ICON) contest at the Faculty of Economics UNY (04-06 / 05). While the second winner was won by the team from Diponegoro University and the third winner by the team of Universitas Gadjah Mada. ICON itself is one of the prestigious national event for Indonesian students which is held annually by UKMF Research CRYRAL FE UNY.

ICON is present as a forum for Indonesian students who want to contribute to the country through creative and innovative ideas. In the year 2018, ICON again brought the concept of Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) with the theme "Improving Youth Role Through Local Resources in Economic Sector Development To Realize Indonesia 2045 Golden Age".
The team from UNY in this event is guarded by 3 students, namely Rizal Justian Setiawan (Mechanical Engineering Education) as chairman, Ria Oktaviani (Biology), and Fine Wiguna (Biology). Rizal, as the team representative, stated that his team is very happy with the achievement of this title, "Alhamdulillah, we can win 1, even though at the time of product simulation, our tool has a little error but fortunately did not give negative impact".
Competition in this competition is quite strict, because the opponents who are present in this competition are also heavy-heavy namely Diponegoro University, Sepuluh November Institute of Technology, General Soedirman University, Gadjah Mada University, Brawijaya University, Jember University, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, and Universitas Trunojoyo Madura.
Thanks to hard work, teamwork, and support from related parties, our delegates were able to win the first prize in this competition, so we give the highest appreciation for all the help.
"In this competition, we enter the subtheme, Technology is about Optimizing appropriate technology as a generator of economic growth," said Rizal.

In this event, UNY delegation presented his work entitled "BIOM" which is innovation of hybrid vehicle based on LPG and gasoline with carburettor-based modification of gas speedometer monitoring on control system as an effort to create cheap transportation in Indonesia ".
Rizal, as the representative of the team explained that the concept of this tool is to create a means of transportation that can use gasoline and LPG gas so that the motor called Biom can use one of the two energies interchangeably.

"With this kind of innovation, we expect gasoline consumption to be more suppressed," he said. (Hryo / Denda)
