YSU hosted the 2nd Evaluation Meeting: Pre Service Teacher Student Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher) activity at UNY Hotel (8/10), which was attended by about 80 participants representing universities in ASEAN. This program was initiated by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) as multilateral activities between the participating countries to implement student exchange activities to implement teaching practices. SEAMEO is an international organization designed to promote cooperation in education, science and culture in Southeast Asia. The event was opened by Vice Rector 1 of YSU, Drs. Wardan Suyanto, M.A., Ed.D.

In the field of education in particular, SEAMEO intensifies education in order to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia, particularly the quality of teachers, which is the key to success in education. Therefore, SEAMEO has started SEA-Teacher Project, one of which begins with a teacher exchange between universities in Southeast Asia for the practicum (teaching experience). Through the exchange process, prospective teachers will understand teaching practices in the Southeast Asian region, the curriculum relevant to their subject, as well as gain a greater insight particularly educational and cultural horizons in South East Asian. Each of ASEAN member countries can exchange experiences and share best practice learning in the field of education. The 2016 international teaching activity has been followed by more than 100 students from countries Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. This activity will be carried out as a suggestion to evaluate implementation of the program as well as to plan the activity in 2017.

Meanwhile, Director of SEAMEO, Dr. Gatot Hari Priowirjanto said that the meeting is a very important opportunity for the partner universities to send prospective teachers, we also invite students who have followed the program to provide testimony related to their teaching experience abroad. "This event is held as a means of evaluating the implementation of the program as well as to plan the same activity in 2017," he concluded. (Andre)
