Shoes are important part of fashion. Shoes are not simply to protect the legs, but also to give aesthetic values to even indicate extreme dignity, social status, or social roles. Almost every day people wear shoes to work, play, have a walk and others. With such importance, the needs for shoes will be endless.

In general, before wearing shoes, people use socks first and then put their feet into the shoe. Sometimes they also need to tie up the rope to look neat. Those stages are performed every time people wear shoes and takeoff shoes. Until recently, there are not many innovations that pay attention to effectiveness in wearing shoes.

Several Yogyakarta State University (YSU) students were motivated to create shoes that are different from the existing. Revika Niza Artiyana and Ridwan Budiyanto from Elementary School Teacher Education, Muhammad Lutfi Hendrato from Education Policy, Amra Ulvita Azhiin from Accounting dan Sarah Nur Hidayah from Fashion study program invented a work named Sekoka (Shoes with Socks inside). According to the Artiyana as the leader of the group, Sekoka is an innovation in the shoe development. "Sekoka has a creative design by inserting socks inside shoes neatly, easy to wear, and with a stylish look " said Revika. "In addition, it is also easily removable to be washed or cleaned up."

Ridwan Budiyanto added that the advantage of this product compared to other shoes is the effectiveness in design which blends in with the socks. It looks quite interesting, practical, convenient to use and easily removed because the attached socks can be put off or removed". In addition, the style and pattern of the shoes present art and culture elements, that is lurik fabric’ said Ridwan. This is an effort to maintain a culture which seems ‘to fade away’ with the coming of modern products". Sekoka has the potential to sustain a lurik fabric because it is designed using the fabric on the outside, thus giving ethnic impression with updated look. The product quality will always be guaranteed for achieving consumers’ satisfaction.
The hard work in creating such innovation was paid off after granted funds from Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education through Student Creativity Program (PKM) in the field of Entrepreneurship year 2016. (dedy)
