As part of an international event Tangerang Global Innovation Forum (TGIF) 2016, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education and the city government of Tangerang Selatan host National Innovation Competition (NIC) 2016, organized by Business Innovation Centre (BIC). As an attempt to disseminate the information regarding the competition, BIC in collaboration with Yogyakarta State University (YSU) held Presentation and Information Session of NIC 2016 on Monday (21/3/2016). Several students and lecturers of YSU enthusiastically entered the Main Meeting Room, YSU Rectorate building as the venue of the agenda.

Rani, as the representative of BIC, brought the audience to get acquaintance with TGIF 2016 in the first session. “NIC is part of Global Innovation Forum, an international forum held annually. This year, Indonesia is mandated as the host.” She added the forum is going to be held in Puspiptek, a research centre in the area of Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. Previously, Global Innovation Forum was succesfully held in South Korea.

In the second session, Rani disseminated much detailed information regarding the proposal, application, and requirements to join NIC 2016. “The proposals we accept must have been through the stage of implementation and being marketted, either in the form of product, service, or program. Furthermore, the innovation has to be in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of Indonesia. A Master student of YSU Graduate School, Widodo, asked an inquiry,” I already have a program that is currently runing, regarding wind energy utilization, but I also want to relate it with eco-tourism, is this possible?”. Rani suggested each innovation can be cross-field, but it is better to focus on a certain field to ease in setting the goal and achievement from the innovation, while smoothing the judging process.
