In the occasion of the campaign “Yuk Nabung Saham” (Let’s Buy Share), Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) invites public to participate in the creative competition through social media. The goal is to encourage people, especially young people to start investing in the stock market with a safe and profitable manner. Through the campaign "Let's Buy Share" IDX held Meme & Videogram Competition via Instagram and Twitter. IDX gives a voucher gift or cash expenditures and savings deposit funds in shares and free opening customer accounts for winners who do not have stock accounts. The winner is announced every two weeks for 3 months (6 periods) beginning on December 14, 2015 until March 13, 2016.

Wahyu Rusdiyanto, graduate of Department of Educational Administration, Faculty of Economics (FE), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and the temporary teaching staff of Office Administration Study Program FE YSU managed to win two periods in the competition. Wahyu won the meme competition and managed to get some cash and a shopping voucher worth IDR 1.000.000, - and deposit funds amounting to IDR 2.000.000, -. Handover of prizes was held on March 1, 2016 at the Stock Exchange Representative Office in Yogyakarta.

Wahyu claimed he began to pursue the stock market since 2014 when he still enrolled in the Master of Management Program at University of Sebelas Maret. "At the beginning, I pursued the stock market while taking a course of financial management. In classes, we were taught only theory, I tried to practice because of pure curiosity reason, "he said.

"Two years playing in the market, I have experienced gains and losses. Supposed we trade, there are times when we gain and loss, right? Follow-up of the losses that we have experienced requires us to be more cautious and continue to learn because in the stock market we cannot rely on instinct for gambling," Wahyu said .

By winning this competition, Wahyu hopes to convince the academic community at YSU to have no doubt in investing in the stock market. Additionally, Wahyu also hopes that YSU has a gallery of investment and active capital markets research group as other campuses have. (Fadhli)
