Students participating in the Off-Campus Learning Program (PLK) from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) have once again demonstrated their commitment to community engagement through a joint community service activity. This time, the initiative took place in Tangkilan Hamlet, Sumbermulyo Village, Bambanglipuro Subdistrict, Bantul Regency.

The students involved in the activity were Muhammad Khoeruddaffa, Muhammad Yasfa Al Mutaqi, Rizky Nur Hayati, Septioana Isro Paulila, Sonya Andriana Putri Wardhani, Devita Anggraeni, Amilia Putri Wibowo, Sad Surya Angga, Annisa Sandiena Fitra, and Muhammad Rahbar Hakimi.

During the activity, the PLK students worked hand in hand with local residents to construct a fence in the neighborhood. The project aimed to improve security while also enhancing the visual appeal of the area. Since early morning, the students showed great enthusiasm, collaborating with residents in preparing materials, digging foundations, and installing the fence structure.

Gito, the head of Neighborhood Unit (RT) 09 in Tangkilan Hamlet, expressed his appreciation for the students’ contribution. He noted that their presence not only provided physical assistance but also fostered a strong sense of togetherness within the community.

“We are greatly helped by the presence of UNY PLK students. They contribute not only their energy but also motivate residents to strengthen cooperation in community service activities. We hope such initiatives can continue in the future,” said Gito on Monday (April 20, 2026).

Meanwhile, the head of the PLK group, Muhammad Rahbar Hakimi, explained that the activity was part of the students’ community service efforts as well as a form of experiential learning in the field.

The activity ran smoothly and was marked by a warm and friendly atmosphere. In addition to accelerating the fence construction process, the collaborative effort strengthened the relationship between students and residents of Tangkilan Hamlet. Such collaboration is expected to further promote the values of mutual cooperation and social awareness, while contributing meaningfully to sustainable development.

This initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, it supports SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting a safe and well-organized environment, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between students and the community. Furthermore, the spirit of mutual cooperation fostered in this activity reflects the values of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) in building a harmonious society.
