Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) received a visit from Birmingham City University (BCU) to present the Digi-Doc project. Besides BCU, there were also representatives from the Northeast Normal University of China, Vietnam National University (VNU), Nguyen Tat Thanh University NTTU) Vietnam, HCMC University of Education Vietnam, London South Bank University, and UNY Indonesia represented by Prof. Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi. The activity was held Tuesday-Thursday recently at FMIPA UNY.
In her presentation, Dr. Jane O'Connor, Deputy Director of the Center for the Study of Research and Practice in Education (CSPACE), BCU, said that the project was funded by the British Council and led by Birmingham City University. The Digital Doktor Training Hub (Digi-Doc) project brings together international Higher Education partnerships in four countries - the UK, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia.
Digi-Doc aims to explore the possibilities of digitizing Educational Doctorates (EdD). BCU's innovative and successful program provides international programs tailored to the needs of busy education professionals in Vietnam, China, and Indonesia. Digi-doc will provide an accessible and inclusive pathway to doctoral qualifications Four-year project 2020 - 2024
Digi-Doc consists of several elements. An international blended program, EdD-I that is responsive to the needs of teachers in Vietnam, China and Indonesia and designed to be implemented collaboratively between partners. Didi-Doc's online supervisor training program, which draws on UK accredited programs, supporting the development of leading-edge skills and expertise in supervising 'research that approaches practice'
An international community of doctoral students and supervisors with a shared commitment to the value of 'close to practice' research like the EdD program on which it is based, EdD-I will be a 4-6 year doctoral program. In years 1 and 2 students follow 4 taught modules, followed in years 3 and 4 by 50,000 theses focusing on challenges arising directly from student practice.
