Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta has established partnerships with Universitas Doktor Nugroho (UDN) Magetan, East Java, and Instituto Politecnico De Betano (IPB) Timor Leste, signed on Monday (17/7) at the Rectorate of UNY. The memorandum of understanding was signed by UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto, UDN Rector Dr. Marsini and IPB President Prof. Assoc. Adj. Acacio Cardosol Amaral.

In her speech, Dr. Marsini said that UDN has assets in the form of young lecturers and employees. "Thanks to the cooperation with UNY, we believe UDN will improve greatly," said Marsini. The founder of UDN admitted that she would work hard and send her lecturers to UNY at the Foundation's expense so that 100% of her lecturers would study at UNY.

President of IPB Prof. Assoc. Adj. Acacio Cardosol Amaral explained that his university was established in 2017 and is only six years old. "We are the only polytechnic in Timor Leste and have two majors, namely civil engineering and animal husbandry," he said. It is hoped that several activities will be carried out with the signing of this memorandum of understanding. IPB also conducts diploma three lectures and hopes UNY can accept its graduates for further studies in Applied Science Degree, especially from the civil engineering department. Because the credit system used differs between IPB and UNY, the Rector of IPB hopes adjustments can be made. Acacio Cardosol also stated that because the university is still new, it needs lecturer training and other activities such as public lectures, joint research, and student-lecturer exchanges to help develop education in both institutions.

UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto welcomed the cooperation with the two universities. He expressed that he will visit the university at some point to improve more joint publications, joint research or others. The Rector hopes that this collaboration can be followed up from all sides
