Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) sent off 17 students who would go on internships at Isuzu Motor, Ltd. at Tochigi Factory, Japan, on January 13, 2023. "A total of 17 students will be doing internships at Isuzu Japan. These students consist of 11 Mechanical Engineering Education students, 1 Manufacturing Engineering student, and 5 Applied Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering students. They have gone through the selection stage directly from Japanese companies. They have also received training in Japanese language and culture, which is needed to work in Japan," said Dr. Apri Nuryanto, S.Pd. ST., M.T., Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education.
Since 2017, the Faculty of Engineering has sent students for internship programs in Japan, which started with the Culinary Study Program, then expanded to other majors/departments such as Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Education. "This is our commitment to developing industrial collaboration with various study programs at UNY," said Dr. Darmono, MT., as Vice-Dean for Research, Cooperation, Information Systems, and Business of the Faculty of Engineering UNY. "Faculties and study programs will continue to improve collaboration with partners to strengthen the relevance of graduate competencies to the needs of the workplace," added the Vice-Dean.
"This one-year program will be recognized as equivalent to 40 credits with relevant courses. Our commitment is to support students who take the opportunity to enrich their competency outside of campus. Yasuyuki Itou, a representative from Isuzu Motor, Ltd., expressed his gratitude to UNY for the support and assistance in fulfilling the human resource needs of Isuzu. "I hope the students have prepared all their needs before leaving, both personal and strengthening Japanese language skills," said Yasuyuki Itou.
