Pandansari Beach, located in Gadingsari, Bantul, can become an international beach tourism destination. However, the management of this beach is not optimal, and this beach is relatively less well known compared to other beaches in Bantul. Pandansari Beach has an iconic lighthouse, camping ground facilities, and dragon fruit garden agrotourism. To encourage Pandansari beach management to become a sustainable international tourist destination, UNY, through the HIMATIKA PHP2D (Holistic Village Development and Empowerment Program) student team conducted a series of programs from July to November 2021.
Some of the programs are repairing and adding adequate facilities and infrastructure, such as painting toilets, installing lighting, making photo spots, benches, and swings at Pandansari Beach, improving existing facilities at the Pandansari Beach camping ground, and painting toilets and the main pavilion. The team also repaired waterways, made photo spots in tree houses, cleaned the camping ground area, and completed the Pandansari Beach Camping Ground Guidebook for visitors to Pandansari Beach Camping Ground.
In boosting a sustainable beach management program, the team also invited the Head of the Bantul Regency Tourism Office, Kwintarto Heru Prabowo, S.Sos., on September 25, 2021, to share a valuable overview on the practical best practice of tourism management. "We are planning Pandansari Beach to become an international beach that can grow the community's economy. Therefore, a reliable team is needed in its management," said Kwintarto Heru Prabowo, S.Sos.
To ensure that tourism activities at Pandansari Beach occur following the covid prevention protocol, the HIMATIKA PHP2D Team and the local COVID-19 task force also held Health protocol training. In addition, the team has also participated in the success of the mass vaccination activity in Gadingsari.
