The student team from the Statistics study program of UNY, consisting of Subkhan Hikmah Fitri, Angeliya Milla Khariyani, and Dave Prihadi Nagogo Rajagukguk, successfully won the Static Infographic Competition. This competition is part of Statistika Ria dan Festival Sains Data (Satria Data) which is supported by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas).
"The competition committee requires us to make posters from fishery commodity data in Indonesia so that it becomes interesting information," said Subkhan. According to him, the data is processed in three types of diagrams according to the committee's request: bar, line, and circle charts. He explained that they displayed a ship-like appearance for the bar chart representing the five countries with the highest export volume of fishery commodities in 2020, namely China, the United States, Japan, Thailand, and Malaysia. "We made this bar chart to resemble a ship so that it looks attractive. It also represents that the ship has a role in the export of fishery commodities," he explained.
Angeliya Milla Khariyani added that the line chart explains the export volume of the three commodities from the five countries over the last 20 years. From the graph, shrimp and seaweed are the leading types of fishery commodities compared to tuna. "To be eye-catching, we made a line chart in three different colors, namely yellow for shrimp, white for tuna on the cob, and green for seaweed," said Milla.
To see the distribution of the export volumes of the three commodities, Dave Prihadi Nagogo Rajagukguk chose to create a pie chart that explains the respective percentages of the United States, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand of the three highest commodities in 2020. we display the flags of these countries,” he said.
As a national scale activity, Satria Data has a mission to improve student competence in statistics and data science. Four types of competitions can be participated in, namely the National Statistics Competition (NCS), Statistical Essay Competition (SEC), Statistics Infographic Competition (SIC), and Big Data Challenge (BDC). Especially for the Statistics Infographics Competition (SIC), participants have the opportunity to turn the information contained in the topics provided into an exciting and comprehensive infographic.
