Thirteen UNY students received scholarships in various countries through IISMA in 2024. This was said by the Director of the Directorate of Academic, Student Affairs and Alumni (DAKA) UNY Prof. Lia Yuliana in the Onboarding of IISMA 2024 Awardees by the Ministry of Research and Technology at the Auditorium Building D 2nd Floor of the Ministry of Research and Technology, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/5). Besides the Director of DAKA, Ghulam Dzaky Dewanto, Marketing Management 2021, Faculty of Vocational Studies, was also present. Awardee Technische Universität Dresden (Vocational), Germany for the period October 14, 2024 - January 18, 2025 and Kanwa Saputra Meytrian Roys, Psychology 2021, Faculty of Education and Psychology. Awardee Mahidol University, Thailand (Bachelor) period August 5 - December 13, 2024.
According to the Head of the IISMA Program, Dr. Rachmat Sriwijaya, this activity has been running since 2021 and has more than 500 alumni. Through the Onboarding activity, IISMA provides preparation for students as well as to release students receiving the IISMA 2024 scholarship program. In addition, this activity will discuss the IISMA 2024 scholarship program to all IISMA 2024 awardees so that they have a comprehensive understanding of the objectives, academic standards, and a clear picture of the IISMA 2024 scholarship scheme. It is also organized to provide an open aspiration space between IISMA 2024 awardees and all IISMA 2024 program stakeholders.
Director General of Higher Education Research and Technology Prof. Abdul Haris was proud of the students' achievements to this point. He hopes that the students can carry out their mandate and noble duty as ambassadors of the nation abroad. "You are ambassadors of the nation, show the world that Indonesian students have superior character and global competence," said Abdul Haris. It is believed that IISMA is one way to improve task skills and soft skills as well as life experiences that encourage understanding of world civilization.
The Director of DAKA was delighted with this achievement and thanked the Rector for the trust given. In addition to Ghulam Dzaky Dewanto and Kanwa Saputra Meytrian Roys, there are still 11 UNY students who became IISMA awardees including Agnesia Rika Puteri Destiny (Accounting) who became an awardee at University Sains Malaysia, Ali Sulaiman (Informatics Engineering Education) at Tehnische Universitat Dresden Germany, Alfan Zidayyan (Civil Engineering) at Atlantic Technological University Ireland and Ibrahim Noor Gazali (Automotive Engineering Education) at the University of Portsmouth UK.
