Institutionally, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta is responsible for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which has become a global development agreement under the auspices of the United Nations (UN). In line with UNY's identity as an educational institution, this responsibility and commitment is manifested through efforts to ensure equitable quality education and increased learning opportunities for all. This is in accordance with one of the SDGs agendas, namely quality education.

Various efforts have been made to disseminate the existence of UNY as an educational institution that is open and accessible to all levels of society. One of the efforts taken is by holding wayang kulit (Shadow puppet) performances. Wayang kulit is a type of traditional art performance that is popular and favored by all levels of society. The existence of wayang kulit is not only for entertainment, but has become part of people's lives.

The wayang kulit performance features puppeteer Ki Bayu Aji Pamungkas, son of H. Anom Suroto, a famous puppeteer from Surakarta. The performance features the play Satriya Krida Hambangun Praja which tells of the struggles of the Pandawa Army in building the Kingdom of Amarta. The essence and meaning of the Satriya Krida Hambangun Praja play is set as an inspiration and motivation for all elements in UNY to continue to strive to create a human being who is competitive, creative, innovative, based on piety, independence, and intelligence. This performance is carried out online through the YouTube live streaming of the UNY Alumni Association.

Prior to the puppet performance, the winners of the Innovation Work Competition with the theme "Building a Golden Generation for the New Indonesian Civilization" were announced, which consisted of 2 categories. Formal and Non-Formal Education Category, as the 1st runner up Ari Yuda Kusuma, M.Pd. from Jambi, 3rd winner: Firdiawan Ekaputra, M.Pd from DIY, 2nd winner: Pipit Haryadi, S.Pd.Gr. from Yogyakarta, and 1st Winner: Dewi Triani Rahayu, S.Pd., from Yogyakarta.
