FIS UNY SUCCESSFULLY HELD THE 3RD ICSSED INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Yogyakarta State University (FIS UNY) successfully held The 3rd International Conference of Social Sciences and Education (The 3rd ICSSED) with the main theme "Challenges of Social Sciences and Education for Achieving SDGs". The 3rd ICSSED which was held at Prime Plaza Hotel Yogyakarta was recently attended by UNY Leaders and hundreds of participants from University co-hosts such as the Universitas co-host sepeti Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Malaysia, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Malaysia, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Universitas Pattimura (UNPATTI), Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Universitas Palangkaraya.

The 3rd ICSSED was officially opened by UNY's Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Margana, M.Hum., M.A. In his remarks, Margana stressed that technological developments in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 had many great impacts in various fields including Education. To respond to these developments UNY through the Faculty of Social Sciences held the 3rd ICSSED. Hopefully, this international conference can provide an opportunity for academics, practitioners, students to discuss topics relevant to the challenges of social science and education in achieving the SDGs. Meanwhile, Dean of FIS UNY, Prof. Dr. Ajat Sudrajat, M.Ag. hope that the discussion at the 3rd ICSSED seminar can be a means of developing knowledge and disseminating knowledge. "Hopefully the discussion in this international conference can be a means for the development of science and scientific knowledge," he said.

In the 3rd ICSSED international conference, the committee presented several speakers including Prof. Dr. Sc. H.M.  Ahman Sya, M.Pd, M.Sc. (Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Indonesia), Bayes Ahmed, PhD (University College London), Assoc. Prof. Mohd Hairy Ibrahim (Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia), and Prof. Dr. Mukminan (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta). Presented material are  The Importance of Culture-Based Education in Indonesia: A Case of the Pasundan Circle of Friends, West Java; Progress in Disaster Science for Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); Climate Change Heatwave and Resilient City; and Trend of the Geography Education Curriculum Development.

The 3rd ICSSED committee chairman, Danu Eko Agustinova, M.Pd., explained that the main speakers presented the material on the first and second days while on the third and fourth days was the coaching clinic session. In this session, Danu continued, the material about General Mistake in Journal was presented by Associate Prof. Dr. Hanafi Bin Hussin (Department of South East Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya) and Writing Good Article for International Indexed Journal / Proceeding by Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Zabidi Abdul Razak (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya).

Danu added that the coaching clinic session was an advantage of The 3rd ICSSED international conference where participants received direct direction from journal reviewers about writing good articles so they could be published in scopus indexed and scanned journals / proceedings. In this session, the papers of The 3rd ICSSED participants were given input for improvement and then the corrected papers were sent back to the committee to be submitted to scopus indexed and spruced journals.

"The enthusiasm of the participants and speakers was extraordinary at The 3rd ICSSED conference. This is evident from the number of full papers submitted, 117 full papers and 90 participants. This success is also inseparable from cooperation with co-hosted universities so that the fabric of cooperation with co-hosted universities needs to be maintained and strengthened again "he concluded (Eko)
