Garuda UNY Team met the rector to confirm the next participation in the Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2019. The competition will be held in Sepang Circuit, Malaysia on April 28 to May 4 2019. This competition will challenge the team to present a fuel-efficient vehicle. There are 150 teams from various countries such as Japan, China, Indonesia and New Zealand.
Muhammad Nurdin, the team manager, explained that the team already developed new vehicle through series of research, especially on the aerodynamic feature. “We design a more aerodynamic body and tested it in Air Force wind tunnel,” Nurdin said. The result is quite significant on the rolling test from a certain height at the Maguwoharjo Stadium. The team noted 500 meter rolling force. The improvement really work well compared with the previous rolling force which only reach 300 meters in 2018. Furthermore, the team also succeeded to improve the fuel efficient to 440 km/liter at high speed, which were previously only set at 270 km/liter.
Garuda UNY Team aimed to reach the first place on the mileage challenge and qualifying in Driver World Championship category in London. The team also intended to continue 2018 team achievement on Off Track Award for Safety feature.
UNY Rector, Prof. Sutrisna Wibawa supported Garuda UNY Team participation in the Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2019. “Confident is important, especially when the effort has been supported by research and serious development. You will be able to give your best,” The Rector said.(Dedy)
