Engineering Faculty of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta keep their effort in improving their networking and developing their graduate competencies.One of the steps taken by the university was implemented through PPL (students teaching practicum) in Malaysia, this program also aim to support the student’s credit and has been going on since 2012. This program is in line with the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM). In 2019, ten students from engineering faculty of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta will be sent to do their teaching practicum in vocational college around Johor under the UTHM coordination start from February until May 2019 period.
The head of International Affairs and Partnership Unit of Engineering Faculty, Ibnu Siswanto, Ph.D as the students’ mentor stated that most of the students who joined this program were come from Hospitality Education. “Through this program students will have a chance to learn and do their self-development especially in teaching International Students that have different languages and cultures”
“They can studied the curriculum that applied in Vocational College in Malaysia as a guide for them to create a Lesson Plan and doing a teaching activity that appropriate according to the academic law in Malaysia” Ibnu added
“This program is also part of credit transfer implementation and networking among higher education” said Ibnu. “Furthermore, students also encouraged to be active in either academic or non-academic activity in the school” Said the Lecturer of Automotive Engineering Faculty.
Meanwhile, Anita Ayu Adriani Dewi, one of the participant of this program explained that her motivation are gaining the knowledge and experiences. “I want to apply the knowledge that I have learned since first studying in Engineering Faculty of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and studying teaching system in other country” said Anita (hryo/terj.
