On 20-21 March 2017, the Office of International Affairs and Partnership (KUIK) organized the 9th Global Culture Festival (GCF). This event is an opportunity to introduce the tourism, arts, and Indonesian culture to the international community, as well as introducing the culture of various countries in the world to the people of Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta. GCF held in 2017 took the theme of "Environmental Sustainability and Cultural Awareness for Peace and Equality". GCF cultural displays ranged from 29 provinces in Indonesia. Aside from Indonesia, GCF participants were foreign students from 22 countries who were undergoing study of Indonesian language and culture in YSU. They are students of Darmasiswa program, Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) of the Republic of Indonesia, credit transfer students from Yunnan University of Nationality and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) China, as well as self-financing students who study at the Yogyakarta State University.

In the opening of the 9th GCF, the Rector of YSU, Prof. Rochmat Wahab, M. Pd, M.A. expressed that to support the ideals of UNY towards World Class University of Education, the necessary efforts are to support the local culture as well as introducing international culture to the public around UNY. "Three main points that should take care of is the locality, globalism and humanity" he said.

Each country occupied a stand that will exhibit the typical food, the decor, the information culture, arts, and tourist attractions of the country. In addition, the display also stand area of ​​29 provinces in Indonesia. Stand area also served food and information about culture, arts, and tourism of each region. This event was enliven by the stage arts and entertainment from Student Activity Unit (UKM), Student Association (HIMA), as well as bands and dancers from YSU.

Dr.-Ing Satoto Endar Nayono, M. Eng., M.Sc. as the Head of KUIK YSU and also Chairman of the Committee said that "Agenda International Day Festival is a festival of culinary and culture, every country and region of Indonesia introduced a culinary information and country / region respectively, so that the YSU students and the general public can get to know and find out information other cultures.”

The International Day Festival continued with the International Parade, the parade of art and culture with the YSU Sport Hall - Colombo Street - Gejayan - Mataram Ditch - Faculty of Engineering YSU. Parade participants comprised of officials from YSU, Electric Car of GURT YSU, YSu Fashion Carnival, Marching Band Citra Derap Bahana, and the mascots of the faculties, representatives of ORMAWA in YSU, students from all around Indonesian archipelago, and YSU’s international students.

On the second day, Tuesday (21/03/2017), the event displayed International Night Festival at YSU Auditorium. This agenda featured a drama performed by international students. The drama told the story of the destruction of nature by humans and how our efforts to improve and preserve nature for future life. In between drama, music and dance also displayed by the student from Indonesian archipelago. (KUIK)
