Department of Geography Education, Faculty of Social Science (FSS) YSU, conducted guest lecture with the lecture from the Department of Geography, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand (14/11). The class was held as an effort to improve the quality of education and the development of cooperation networks of Geography study in ASEAN countries. This activity is the second guest lecturer in 2016 which was organized by the Department of Geography Education by presenting a geography professor from the ASEAN countries. Previously, the course presented a guest lecturer from the University of the Philippines Diliman, on the last 17-20 May 2016.
During this time, there are two guest lecturers present to describe the material; Assit. Prof. Dr. Thitirat Panbamrungkij and Dr. Ekkamol Vannametee. Lectures are divided into two sessions. In the first session, Dr. Thitirat Panbamrungkij deliver a lecture on Geography of Tourism, Thailand Perspective, whereas Dr. Ekkamol Vannametee, in the second session, explained about GIS Based Modelling of Hydrological Processes in a Catchment. This lecture was followed by 160 participants consisting of students from the Department of Geography Education, students of Geography Graduate School, PPG SM3T students, and the faculty members Department of Geography Education, FSS YSU. Also present at the event, Head of the Department of Geography Chulalongkorn University, Assit. Prof. Dr. Panee Cheewinsiriwat accompanying the guest lecturers, as well as receiving the invitation of students from the Department of Geography Education as a keynote speaker in the activities of Geography The 2nd ASEAN Student Conference held on 12-13 November 2014.
Dr. Hastuti, M.Sc. as the Head of the Department of Geography Education explained that this is one of the activities carried out as a form of cooperation between the Department of Geography Education, FSS YSU and the Geography Department, Chulalongkorn University. In the previous semester, one student of the Department of Geography Education has received a scholarship for one semester to attend lectures at Chulalongkorn University. "This collaboration will be followed by a joint conference on the results of research from both institutions, and sending lecturers of the Department of Geography Education as a guest lecturer at Chulalongkorn University" she explained.(Arif)
