ICEBESS 2016 TO DEVELOP ACADEMIC SCHOLARS TO FACE THE GLOBAL CHALLENGES

With the rapid advancement of technology and the digitalization process in various fields, people are required to make changes in the behaviour of social, economic, and business. Without changing the mind-set and way of working, it is difficult to obtain economic stability and prosperity of society. With this background, the Faculty of Economics (FE) YSU held an International Conference on Ethics of Business, Economics, and Social Science (ICEBESS) 2016 (16/9). This international seminar invited three keynote speakers at the Plenary Session as well as more than 50 speakers from home and abroad.

In his speech, representing the Rector, the Vice Rector 1 Wardan Suyanto, M.A. Ed.D. said that ethics in business, economics, and social sciences have become a hot issue in the 21st century. "In accordance with the vision YSU: piety, autonomy, and intellectuality, the international seminar is expected to contribute in the fields of business, economics, and social sciences development in the midst of rapid technological advancement," he explained.

Prof. Chih-Cheng Chao as the first speaker is one of the Senior Advisor at the Industrial Technology Research Institute. ITRI ​​itself is an organization formed by the Taiwanese government since 1973 which succeeded in transforming Taiwan from industrialized countries that originally only emphasized on labour (labour-intensive) to an industrialized country with a focus on accelerating technology (high-tech industry).

"In 1970, Taiwan's per capita income was US $ 3.570. At the beginning of the 21st century, it has increased ten-fold to US $ 35.604. The industrialized world is experiencing a transition from being labour-intensive, into innovation focus, "explained by the professor who is now settled in Canada.

The two other speakers were Prof. Richard Chinomona of the School of Economic and Business Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg Area, South Africa, and Dr. Aly Abdel Moniem of the Graduate School Islamic University of Indonesia. Richard Chinomona is one of the academics who have a high level of productivity in the delivery of research. It is recorded that there are 66 titles that have been made public within three years back. While Aly Abdel Moniem is an Egyptian-born doctor who examined the problem in terms of Sustainable Development Policies from the Perspective of Maqasid asy Islamic Sharia.

A total of more than 50 speakers from various universities in several countries, including the Bandung Institute of Technology, Khon Kaen University in Thailand, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia, as well as universities in other Southeast Asian region also presented their presentations in parallel sessions. Parallel sessions are divided into several groups, such as education, human resource management, economics and social sciences, and others, according to the study field of speakers.

"This international seminar will be an ideal forum in an effort to support, encourage, and keeping the potential delivery of superior academics from around the world. It is our desire FE YSU to contribute to building a more solid world of economics, business, and social sciences to face global challenges, "said Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Sugiharsono in closing remarks at the end of the event.
