Faculty of Engineering (FE) Yogyakarta State University (YSU) received grant in the form of heavy duty equipment from Thiess Contractor Indonesia Ltd. The equipment are Caterpillar mining truck, diesel engine, bucket cylinder, air compressor, gear pump, hoist pump, turbocharger Garrett and others. These equipment take up a lot of space, thus the FE’s parking lot located at the east side of the faculty is now dedicated to place these equipment.
Tony Borkett, Training & Development Manager of Thiess Contractor Indonesia Ltd in his remark said that this donation would help to increase the learning activities in YSU. “This cooperation is a form of social responsibility from Thiess Ltd to promote the education in Indonesia,” said Tony Borket.
In a different occasion, the Dean of FE YSU, Dr. Moch. Bruri Triyono expressed that the heavy duty equipment will be projected to the Department of Automotive Technique Education where in the future a concentration module on heavy duty will be opened. “Last year, we have sent the teaching staff to receive training at Thiess for 2 weeks. “ The representative of Thiess Ltd, last month, was here also for a couple days to synergize the creation of curriculum and learning tools in the heavy duty concentration.
According to the Dean of FE YSU, the cooperation between FE YSU and Thiess Ltd is very productive, where previously there was an internship program for the students to teach at Thiess Ltd Training Centre and it runs well for these last three years.
