THE JOURNEY TO 2016 INDONESIAN ROBOT CONTEST REGIONAL III

Robot Team of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) is currently preparing for the 2016 Indonesian Robot Contest Regional III (Yogyakarta Special Province, Central Java, and Kalimantan that is going to be held in Diponegoro University, Semarang on 21-23 April 2016. The event is routinely held per annum by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. This year, YSU will send 5 delegations, namely MAESTRO_EVO Team (Robot Contest ABU Indonesia - KRAI), MOBO_EVO Team (Contest of Indonesian Wheeled Fire Extinguisher Robot -KRPAI Beroda), GARENK PUNK Team (Contest of Indonesian Legged Fire Extinguisher Robot - KRPAI Berkaki), ROSEMERY Team (Contest of Indonesian Dance Robot – KRSTI) dan AL-‘ADIYAAT Team (Indonesian Contest of Football Robot – KRSBI).

Doni Kurniawan, the Chiefperson of AL-‘ADIYAAT Team (KRSBI UNY) ensured that he and his team could get maximum result this year. "We do hope this year we could bring a better result than last year”.

This year, each category proposes different themes. For instance, ABU Indonesia Robot contest is titled “Renewable Energy Efficiency”; KRPAI Beroda and KRPAI Berkaki are titled “SAR Robot as File Extinguishers”; KRSBI brings the theme of “Humanoid Football League”, and; KRSTI chooses the theme “Betawi Topeng Dance”.

Dr. Giri Wiyono, M.T., in his capacity as the Vice Dean 3 of Faculty of Engineering (FE) extended the same wish, “I have an expectation that YSU Robot Team can be the winning team and grab better achievement than the last year’s. Furthermore, Moh. Khairudin, M.T, Ph.D. as the Team Supervisor advised “We need to learn from our last year achievement thus we could get a better result (this year)’’ (9/4).

Last year, YSU Robot Team was announced the Champion after winning in 3 categories of 5 competition categories. The team also gained several awards: The Winner of ABU Indonesia Robot Contest, Winner and the Best Algorithm of KRPAI Beroda, the Winner of KRSI, and the 3rd Runner up of KRSBI. Those achievements gave a golden ticket for YSU team to compete in National Robot Contest Indonesia 2015. “In 2016, we have set the target, that is to retain the championsip in Regional Contest, and then grab the 1st position in National Robot Contest Indonesia 2016.
