To nurture graduates who are ready to compete in the global job market, the Subdirectorate of Career Guidance and Alumni of the Directorate of Academic and Student Affairs (AKA) UNY held a Series I Career Guidance Thematic Workshop with the theme: “Career Guidance for Final Year UNY Students”. This activity is expected to equip students with various skills and strategies in facing competition in the world of work.

The Rector of UNY, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., along with university leaders such as Vice Rectors, Deans, and Directors of Academic and Student Affairs were present, emphasizing the importance of improving the quality of human resources. In addition, representatives from PT Indoprima Gemilang-one of UNY's industrial partners-also attended, namely Yuanita Agata T. (Human Capital Asst. Manager), Fanel Johana Leda (Talent Acquisition Staff), and Naila Cahayani Putri (Talent Acquisition Staff).

PT Indoprima Gemilang, a company that has been established since 1976, is known as a leading automotive component manufacturer, serving many international automotive companies such as Daihatsu, Hino, Honda, and Isuzu. With its long history and contribution in the industry, PT Indoprima Gemilang continues to be committed to supporting the development of young Indonesian talents.

In his speech, Prof. Sumaryanto emphasized that UNY continues to strive to produce excellent graduates who are ready to compete. “UNY always prepares students with relevant skills, according to their interests, talents, and abilities,” he said. One form of this commitment is by facilitating lecturers, education staff, and students to continue their studies and deepen their expertise.

Yuanita Agata from PT Indoprima Gemilang highlighted the challenge of the high unemployment rate in Indonesia, which reached 3.6 million people. As a solution, her company continues to open job opportunities for graduates who are competent in their fields. She also shared some tips for success in job selection, including: mastering knowledge, continuing to learn, joining relevant internships, practicing cooperation and leadership skills, and enriching yourself with certifications.

Students who want to apply for a job are also advised to research the desired position, prepare contributions that can be offered, and evaluate the selection process regularly.

The event ended with a live interview session for students interested in taking part in employee selection at PT Indoprima Gemilang, giving them a real opportunity to achieve their prospective career.
