A group of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) in Timpang Village, Pengasih, Kulonprogo, conducted a workshop on utilizing natural ingredients from moringa and tea leaves to create beauty and health products. The team, comprising Annafsul Zakiyah, Muhammad Aji Farid Fadila, Muhammad Usman Alfarisi, Cjandra Hendrawan, Anindya Nari Dewati, Tafdilla Azzah Purnama, Nasywa Nur Maheswari, Sillvia Wulan Ramadhani, Mira Susanti, and Putri Pricilia Siahaan, aimed to educate locals on the benefits of readily available leaves in their environment.
The workshop received enthusiastic participation from the community, especially women and teenagers. Team leader Muhammad Aji Farid Fadila explained that the initiative sought to impart knowledge about the antiseptic, antioxidant, and nutritional properties of tea and moringa leaves. "These leaves offer health benefits and can be directly utilized by residents through the production of scrubs, traditional herbal drinks, and teas," Aji stated on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
During the hands-on session, participants learned to create natural scrubs by mixing tea dregs with honey and olive oil. Annafsul Zakiyah, responsible for the scrub-making segment, highlighted that this blend helps remove dead skin cells and maintain skin moisture. "It also combats free radicals, prevents premature aging, and preserves skin elasticity," she added.
