Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has officially sent students to take part in the Humanitarian Community Service Program (KKN Kemanusiaan) in Aceh for the 2025/2026 academic year. The send-off ceremony and briefing were held on Tuesday (6 January 2026) at the UNY Rectorate ahead of the students’ departure on 8 January 2026.
UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto emphasized that the Humanitarian KKN reflects the university’s commitment to community service based on humanitarian values. He stressed that students are expected not only to implement programs, but also to bring empathy, social care, and hope to communities affected by disasters. The ceremony was symbolically marked by the presentation of KKN attributes to student representatives.
The program involves 100 students from various faculties, supported by 10 representatives of student organizations. They will serve for 30 days, from 8 January to 6 February 2026, focusing on post-disaster rehabilitation and strengthening social and psychological resilience in Aceh.
Prior to departure, students received briefings from disaster management and psychology experts, as well as technical guidance on program implementation, ethics, reporting, and administrative responsibilities. The participants will be based at Universitas Samudera (UNSAM) with service locations in Aceh Tamiang Regency.
UNY provides full support for the program, including round-trip transportation and daily living allowances. Through this Humanitarian KKN, UNY hopes students will contribute meaningfully to society while developing empathy, solidarity, and social responsibility as future leaders.
