Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has officially opened admissions for its International Undergraduate Program (IUP) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. As a flagship initiative, the IUP is designed to provide an international-standard learning experience through English-medium instruction, global engagement, and various overseas academic exposure schemes. The program offers students diverse opportunities, including student exchanges, short courses, summer programs, visiting lecturer sessions, internships, and research collaborations, as well as participation in international conferences and publications.

Online registration for the UNY IUP is open from January 19 to April 7, 2026. The selection process consists of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and an online interview, structured flexibly to accommodate applicants from both Indonesia and abroad.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at UNY, Prof. Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro, emphasized that the IUP is a premier program developed to meet the global challenges of higher education. Speaking on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, he stated that the program serves as an international learning ecosystem that encourages academic excellence, English proficiency, and tangible global experience. He noted that the initiative aligns with UNY's vision as a world-class university of education that is superior, creative, and sustainably innovative.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, UNY is offering the IUP across several study programs, including English Language Education, Public Administration, Chemistry Education, Information Technology, Sport Science, Management, and Accounting. To ensure an intensive, interactive, and high-quality learning environment, each program will limit enrollment to 20 students per class. Prof. Nur Hidayanto explained that this restricted class size is a deliberate academic strategy to allow for optimal academic mentoring, deeper discussions, and a more effective international learning experience.

To support global academic exposure, UNY has established strategic partnerships with reputable universities worldwide. These include Western Sydney University and the University of New South Wales (Australia), Michigan State University (USA), the University of Groningen (Netherlands), and the University of Helsinki (Finland). The network also extends to the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), Universiti Teknologi MARA and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Malaysia), Mahidol University and Walailak University (Thailand), Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore), and several institutions in South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, and the Philippines. This global network facilitates student mobility for cross-country studies, collaborative research, and international internships.

The UNY IUP is open to high school graduates from 2024 to 2026, with a maximum age of 23. Prospective students must meet academic requirements and demonstrate English proficiency through official certification such as TOEFL, IELTS, or UNY’s ProTEFL. Detailed information regarding schedules, requirements, and the application process can be accessed via the official admissions portal at pmb.uny.ac.id or by contacting the UNY Admissions office.
