The contribution of academics to improving the quality of human resources in society was once again demonstrated through the dedication of lecturers from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). On Monday, 18 May 2026, Dr. Ranintya Meikahani, M.Pd., a lecturer from the Department of Elementary School Physical Education, Faculty of Sports Sciences and Health (FIKK) UNY, served as a speaker in the Third Batch of Sports Personnel Training. Held at Prima SR Hotel & Convention, the program involved 43 teachers from RA, MI, and MTs levels across Sleman Regency.

The involvement of the UNY academic expert reflected the university’s active response to a collaborative invitation from the Youth and Sports Office (Dispora) of Sleman Regency. Carrying the theme “Improving Community Fitness through Physical Activity and Sports,” Dr. Ranintya emphasized the importance of positioning schools as the main foundation for cultivating an active lifestyle culture. Before dozens of teachers, she highlighted effective strategies to make sports not merely a routine activity, but a healthy lifestyle that should be instilled from an early age and expanded into positive habits within the wider community.

The knowledge-sharing process facilitated by Dr. Ranintya was not limited to theoretical explanations. She created an engaging training atmosphere through dynamic approaches, ranging from interactive discussions to practical physical activities that could be directly implemented by the teachers in their respective schools.

The involvement of FIKK UNY lecturers in this program represented a tangible form of strategic synergy between higher education institutions and local government. This academic collaboration aligns with the vision of the Head of DISPORA Sleman to develop progressive, competitive, and well-characterized youth through the enhancement of sports resources. Furthermore, the active contribution of the UNY academic community in this training program also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting healthy lives and well-being for all members of society.
