Yogyakarta – Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), through its Directorate of Professional Education and Competency Development, held the Graduation Ceremony (Yudisium) for the Ministry of Religious Affairs In-Service Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Program for General Subject Teachers, Batch 4 of 2025. The event took place on Tuesday, May 26, at the Main Meeting Hall of the UNY Rectorate.
A total of 1,255 teacher participants were officially conferred during the ceremony, comprising 93 participants attending in person and 1,162 participants joining online.
Of the graduates, 459 were male and 796 were female. Based on their teaching institutions, the participants consisted of 20 teachers from Raudatul Athfal (Islamic preschools), 90 from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary schools), 642 from Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic junior secondary schools), and 503 from Madrasah Aliyah (Islamic senior secondary schools). The graduates represented 335 regencies and municipalities across all 34 provinces of Indonesia and covered 11 teaching subject areas.
The ceremony formally recognized participants who had successfully completed all requirements of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' In-Service Teacher Professional Education Program. Through this event, all 1,255 participants were officially declared graduates and awarded their professional teaching certificates.
The program began with participant registration, followed by the opening ceremony, the singing of the Indonesian National Anthem and the UNY Hymn, the reading of the Rector's Decree, the official graduation conferral by the Rector of UNY, and the presentation of teaching certificates. The ceremony also included the graduates' professional pledge, remarks from the graduate representative, the Rector's address, a prayer, and concluded with the singing of the patriotic song Bagimu Negeri.
The event was attended by the Rector of UNY, Vice Rectors, Deans from several faculties, the Director of the Directorate of Quality Assurance, the Acting Director of the Directorate of Professional Education and Competency Development, the Head of the Teacher Professional Education Unit, graduates of the Ministry of Religious Affairs In-Service PPG Program for General Subjects Batch 4 of 2025, and members of the organizing committee.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, Rector of UNY, congratulated the graduates on their achievement and expressed his appreciation for their dedication throughout the program. On behalf of the University, he also apologized for any shortcomings in serving the PPG participants during their studies.
He encouraged the graduates to become professional teachers by embodying three essential qualities: possessing strong expertise in their field, demonstrating responsibility both professionally and socially, and fostering a strong sense of solidarity and commitment to the teaching profession.
Representing the graduates, Ratih Handayani, a participant from the English Language Education program, emphasized that earning the title of professional teacher should be reflected through meaningful, relevant, inspiring, and inclusive educational practices.
"The title of professional teacher that we have earned today is not merely a formal designation. It must be realized through concrete actions that address the increasingly complex challenges of education. Rapid technological advancement is no longer just a tool but a necessity for us to remain relevant and inspiring to Generation Z and Generation Alpha. Let us ensure that Indonesian education continues to move forward, becomes more inclusive, and leaves no child behind."
Through this graduation ceremony, UNY reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the quality and professionalism of teachers, particularly those serving under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, enabling them to make greater contributions to improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
