Annual Bird Observation by Bionic Bird Observation Group

Bird data collection at YSU campus is regularly held each year by the Bionic Bird Observation Group, a sudent activity unit concerning the bird obrservation. This activity has been held since 2004 and aims at collecting the data of the bird species and population at Yogyakarta State University.
The group held the observation from Saturday to Sunday (June 20th-21st, 2015). The observation was held twice a day that is in the morning and in the afternoon. In the morning, the observation was held from 7 am to 9 am and the afternoon observation was held form 15.30 pm to 17.30 pm.
Among the species recorded during the activity were Sunda Scops-Owl at Pancasila Park, Javan Sparrow at the area of Faculty of Languages and Arts,  Golden-bellied, and White-breasted Waterhen. However, there were species which did not appear in the campus area compared to last year’s obeservation. One of them was Barred Buttonquail which was observed at the area around YSU Sport Stadium last year. Aghnan Pramudihasan as the team coordinator explained that the campus area was divided into five blocks during the observation. The results of the observation will be published in the forms of posters and banners.
