Andian Ari Anggraeni, M.Sc., lecturer of culinary education was awarded as the Winner of Best Practice in Learning Innovation in 56th Anniversary of UNY (18/05/2020) for her work entitled "Development of Video Tutorials and Flipped Classroom Course on Food Preservation Technology Subject".

Andian has produced a variety of learning videos, especially on her fields of expertise on food science and technology. Her works on culinary learning videos span from 2016 to 2020. Some of them are tutorial video on banana chips processing, tutorial video on pH influence in food color, animated video on how to calculate nutritional value, learning model video for flipped classroom, and many more. Around 38 of her videos already have IPR and around 41 videos are on IPR process.

Andian chose video as a learning medium for various reasons. A learning video is a good option for independent learning. The combination of audio and visual is proven to be more effective and faster in conveying messages to students.

According to Andian, instructional videos are very suitable for use in learning systems that are productive so that it helps students to visualize the material that has been taught so that it is easier to remember and understand.

Andian added that Generation Z did not like verbal media. "They prefer audio-visual media. If they have to read, they prefer reading through cellphones or laptops and they only read for important material. Therefore, the video is very suitable for today's learning, " Andian said.

Andian ackowledged that creating a qualified learning content is important especially during current pandemic. Teachers who are just starting online learning can use content that is already available on video sharing sites such as YouTube. Andian also still often dubbed (voice lay over) on animated videos on YouTube in English. This is done because the development of video animation requires a low cost. Simple audio editing and video editing capabilities are 2 types of skills that instructors must possess at the moment.

Andian concern on the importance of blended learning between synchronous and asynchronous technology learning strategies or combines face-to-face and online models to create an optimal learning experience has started long before covid-19 pandemic. For practical subjects, Andian uses blended learning with a flipped class approach. This model has also been adopted by several practical subjects in the scope of FT UNY. (hryo, Tj.Lak)
